Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma longifolia) is a root native to Southeast Asia with centuries of traditional use as a daily tonic for performance and vitality across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. It has more modern human research behind it than most botanicals in this category.
A study published in Andrologia (Tambi et al., 2012) looked at a standardized Tongkat Ali extract in men with late-onset hypogonadism (age-related low testosterone) and found increases in testosterone levels alongside improvements in quality-of-life and sexual health questionnaire scores over the treatment period.
Separately, a randomized, placebo-controlled trial published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (Talbott et al., 2013) found a standardized Tongkat Ali extract reduced the stress hormone cortisol and improved mood scores in moderately stressed adults — relevant because chronic stress is closely linked to reduced blood flow and performance over time.
Tongkat Ali is one of two lead ingredients in HorseWood's formula.
See HorseWood Pricing & AvailabilityThese are still a small number of trials, several sponsored by ingredient suppliers, and none test the finished HorseWood formula itself. Individual results with any botanical vary.
Tongkat Ali has both centuries of traditional use and a small but real modern research base pointing to testosterone and stress-hormone support — a legitimate, if modest, foundation for its role in a performance-focused formula.
